Default To go with this, or to go with that? On a tight budget

*EDITED: Ummm I didnt mean its a big budget in the title, I met a tight budget*
So I'm a kid on a very tight budget (I make only $140 a week and have other expenses like gas, food, car and motorcycle insurance) My car is bone stock aside from the SLP lid I just put on.As far as power, I fully plan on doing full exhaust and H/C/I in the future. Being that I'm on such a budget, I think buying used would be the best option for me. I came across a set of Texas Speed 1-3/4 Longtubes with 1000 miles on them for sale for $200. I also found a Lunati LS1/LS2 Street Strip Hydraulic Roller Cam with less than 100 miles on it and has specs of:

•Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 300/300
•Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 242/242
•Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .595/.595
•LSA/ICL: 112/108
•Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
•RPM Range: 3500-6500

I would have to wait for a little to put the headers on being that I plan on doing those, High-Flow cats, and then a custom exhaust with Spintechs all at one time. I would also have to wait to do the cam because of all of the supporting things like valvesprings and pushrods.

So, If you were in my situation, having the desire to mod your car and having a pathetic budget to work on, which would you buy or what other options do you guys have that I should consider?

Save your money! Be patient. Buying used mods of any type can spell 'regret' if you don't know the history of the parts. You would be surprised at what could be wrong with any used part, even exhaust systems which seem so straight forward. On a tight budget these poor purchases could really ruin what should be an enjoyable ownership experience. Best of luck!

DO NOT buy used internal engine components, you will just cause more problems, I have seen it done and it has worked out great and also had horrible results, blown engines etc. Save your money, do it once and do it right.

Is the car paid off? Do that first, then mod it.

Yeah its paid off. I paid cash when I bought it. I guess I should just wait. Its so painful to be stock in a modified world

It doesn't have to be. That's just your perspective, or is it your peers? I've been in a 100% stock F-body for longer than you have been on the planet. Bought my first F-body in July '96 (a Formula) off the showroom floor. Been stock, right down to the Delco battery and Goodyear tires, ever since. I understand the need to mod when young. Been there, done that, then realized how few 100% stock cars were on the road. They get plenty of attention. Of course it's your choice and your car to enjoy, just think about it. Good luck with everything!

At 16 you should get to know the car first. I assume this is your first car so get used to it for a while then mod down the line. Trust me a 16 yr old with 400+ hp is not usually a great mix. I was in your position at one point and made stupid decisions about car mods so do yourself a favor and read, read, read, and read some more so you dont do the same.

Also listen to Lemons, this dude knows his **** lol.

few things. like said above, DO NOT get that cam. not only is it a big cam but it gets expensive trying to buy all of the supporting mods to do a swap.
i disagree with 2000PewterT/A. you can buy all the used parts you want. Just make sure you know EXACTLY what your getting and how worn out the parts are. I have bought a ton of used parts off of here and not had any problems with anything knock on wood.
last, i know how frustrating it is to have to practice being patient when it comes to modding. but dont rush into something only to regret it later down the road because it wasnt what you "really" wanted.

while your saving $$$ do what MJS1012 said, READ, READ, READ, RESEARCH, READ, and RESEARCH some more!

I'm 19 and yea it sucks having rich friends and their parents pay for all the mods for their mustangs. But at the end of the day, my stock 02 SS is at the top with their girlfriends in the back !
