Default Trans Temp sensor location

Hey guys. I about to pull my trans to upgrade the TC, flexplate and swap to a deep pan. I am wondering where the best place for the sending unit is going to be. I've read over the age old argument about pan vs test port and am really unsure as to which I want to do. This is a street car that I have yet to take to the track but I will probably do that sometime in the future just to see what it will run ect but it will remain my daily driver for the forseeable future. If putting the sender in the pan where would be the ideal location? up higher where it would be closer to the trans or down lower or mid section? Thanks in advance.

You can probably weld a bung in the middle of the pan I'm sure and not have any issues since you'll have a deep pan.

I just wasn't sure at which point depth wise I would get the best reading. It's the TCI cast alum one so if anything I would probably tap out a hole to install an NTP fitting. All I have is a fluxcore welder and don't want to run around town to find someone to tig it.

I always drilled and tapped a hole for electrical sender like halfway up the pan in either the rear or side in my glide's and th400's
