Default 6L80 T43 Operating System Question

As some of you know I erred when I mated an L92 out of a 2007 Escalade to an unknown 6L80 transmission. I now have a communication problem. So I ordered HP Tuners so I can scan the transmission to see what operating system is in it and possibly the VIN#. Some say it won't show the VIN#.

This is the question. If the transmission turns out to be from a vehicle that was made in 2009 would it be possible to use a E38 ECM out of a 2010 L99 Camaro? As I understand it the 2010 Camaro still uses the older transmission code. That would be my ideal situation and best way for me to get out of my problem.

Edit: IMHO the transmission is most likely out of a 2008 or 2009 vehicle.

The trans has a 4 character code on a sticker on the RHS of the trans. Like 8CVA. 8 is the year. 9 for 09. 0 for 10. 1 for 11. etc. Likely work with the Camaro ECM but if not a matched pair then possibly may not run as they would if they were a matched pair.

IIRC HPT does not show the trans VIN.

Thank you for the information. I will try and get under the car and look at the transmission for a code. I have a picture of the left hand side and of course it does not show the code. I didn't think HPT would show the VIN#.

Update. With the information provided I found the code and it is OCAA. So that would mean a 2010 transmission. Thank you so much for the info. Now for some more detective work.

FYI for others. They key is the top level series of numbers to the right of those 4 digits. Those numbers usually start "242xxxxx" and will tell you the specific TCM inside and the vehicle plotform it came out of.
