Well then you already have an exhaust and I'm ASSuming because its a 02 he swapped over the ls6 intake manifold to the 6.0 .
SO...
I would either do a set of 243 heads to raise the compression... First choice
You probability have a LQ4 (more common the the LQ9) witch has dished pistons... 9.5:1 compression.
A fast 102 would be my second choice. Then hit it with a 150 shot.
When you say "Shift Kit'' do you mean a higher stall converter ?

The car has an lq9 with 317 heads I'm guessing since I've seen those heads on Craigslist for 100-150 that they are not great heads I'm looking into a new intake, coil packs, maybe going aftermarket cold air intake oh and I just bought a 125 shot nos kit today anyone recommend a certain cam I like the more aggressive cams so a cam and head combo are definently on the top of the list

The 317 heads are one of the best flowing GM head, they just have the biggest combustion chamber size... 72cc So unless your going forced induction or big CI they aren't as desirable of a head as the 243's, that flow as good as the 317's with a smaller cc combustion chamber (64cc i think).
Save your money on the coils, the OEM units have made 1,000+ hp. Use the money for a intake or a H/C package.
What is your budget for heads/cam ?
Also if you do have a LQ9 you have flat top pistions and 10:1 compression with the 317 heads. So a smaller cc head will get you in the 10.5:1 - 11:1 compression range.

leave it as it is. and add supercharger or turbo they both love those 317 heads. look in the forced induction section for more info on the 317s
