Default rebuilding 2010 5.3l

While taking my 2010 5.3l out of my silverado. When I removed the valve covers it was obvious that something was different from one side of the engine to the other. The driver side was much darker in color (oil stained)compared to the passaner side. Everything inside the head from the valve cover, srings, retainers, rockers and even the pushrods looked like it came from a engine with twice the miles. This engine has never been apart. It seams like it has seen much more heat than the other side. If you stood up the heads side by side on the bench you'd say no way they came off the same engine. Any idea what would cause this?

I dont see how it would be possible unless it was left laying on one side. My guess would be someone replaced the head or had it off for some reason and cleaned the one side. I have yet to see something like that

I bought the truck brand new and it has never been apart. I will post pics soon.
