Default Rear option worth $300

I have a 2000 TA ws6 stock evertthing with 8700 miles. The sticker from the window lists "Rear preform axle 3.23 ratio" cost $ 300. Can anyone fill me in what I have for a $300 option compared what would have come with out it ? I read that the ws6 option you got this set up anyway. Thanks

It sounds like you have an automatic WS6 with the 3.23 rear gear. Automatic cars without that option had the 2.73 rear gear.

the performance axle package was a 3.23 ratio on a 3 series Torsen carrier instead of the standard 2.73 ratio on a Torsen 2 series carrier.

Every ws6 t/a got the 3.23 option just like an ss would and the 300 was included in the price. the 2.73 option was only for regular ta and formula cars

Is 3.23 good for low end power or top end power. All my driving will be off highway.
