Default turbo exhaust manifold log build?

im soon starting a thread on my 70 chevelle single turbo setup , to save room ive decided to make a log and a crossover underneath the car , so i have a few questions what size pipe should i use for the log itself and what size for the tubing that gets welded to the exhause manifold flange , im going to have to buy them with bends already in them so any suggestions of where to get pre bent mild steel tubing? links to builds would help as well thanks

Is the log a pass through? In other words, does the crossover enter the rear of the opposite side's log and the exhaust from both sides mix?

What are you power goals?

What motor? Size? I'm assuming this is an LS swap.

What side are you running the turbo on?

If building a log i would use sch 40 or sch 10 pipe. Also the manifold flanges should be at least 3/8 thick, 1/2 would be best.

Haven't decided what side to run it but it will be a pass through , engine is an lq4 6.0 , turbo is a gt45 and I'm looking for probably 600 wheel power

I built mine also 2. 2.5 sch40 weld eels,1 foot of 2.5 sch40, 4. 1 5/8 weld eels, t4 flange and 2 1/2 v band. I think I had around 100-150 bucks and 8 hours in it.

For such a low power goal, a 2" crossover would be fine.

There was a great thread a while back about crossover sizes.

We do have blend from to time.
That are cheaper.
But your thinking is probably solid on building your own.
I could say it would fit your application.
For trucks no problem. But cars just no way of knowing.

I would stick with schedule 10 or 40 pipe for a log.

you can use 1.5 for primaries and 2.5 for the pass through log. For the crossover i would run 2" 16ga pipe, or better yet 2" schedule 40 or schedule 10 pipe.

Log manifolds are susceptible to cracking due to their design, so thick walled pipe with a good weld is imperative.

Yea I don't believe I'm going to make the crossover from sch pipe but if I have to make the log out of it I will, just need to find who pre bends it in the sizes for the runners and pass through log

2" pipe has the outseide diameter of close to 2.5", sch. 10 crossovers are done all the time, ive done several. They weigh less than the manifold.

make sure you pay more attention to the primaries than we did when we built mine. notice the far left primary almost pointing directly toward the bottom of the log (where the cross over would feed INTO the last port instead of them flowing the same direction
I know i should pull it apart and rebuilt it.. .but it works

also take into consideration you will need to change plugs and get to your wires and all that.. a few minor changes would have made my life a lot easier when doing these tasks
