Default amp mounting location

I'm getting a 300w amp and want to mount it in the trunk on the back just under the trunk latch. Anyone think heat will be a issue with it being mounted vertically? Also anyone with a amp, where have you mounted yours?

there are quite a few people on here that have amps mounted to amp racks that fit there in the position and non of them seam to have issues, just make sure it has room to "breath", airflow is key to keeping an amp cool, also this can't be a definitive yes or no because every amp is different, some just naturally run hotter then others. My current amp is sitting on the back hump behind the rear seat and my back window is untinted so it gets a LOT of heat from the sun shining on it but it doesn't run hot because of how it was built, even in the middle of summer after playing loud as can be for 20 minutes I can still put my hand on it and keep it there, but I've had other amps where that sunlight alone was enough to get it burning hot.

Mounted mine right behind the back seat on that wide open area. My amps get hot anyways because of the design, and putting them there certainly doesn't help with the sun...I have wood blocks mine sit up on and will get a fan if ever needed to cool them.

depends on what kind of amp it is and if you do go that route of putting it under the trunk latch...try to put some sort of spacers so there is enough room for it to breathe

Here's my setup. The amps are sitting on spacers to help them breathe.

Nice. Thanks everyone for your info. I mounted it just below the latch for the trunk on 1" spacers.
