fluid change...trans is really hot
just did a motor swap, at the same time i changed the fluid in my 01' t56. i used royal purple ATF. now my trans is getting so hot, i can feel the heat through my interior plastics. it was not like this before. i used the suggested 3.8 quarts. any thoughts/ideas? thanks!!!

I'm assuming RP ATF is a synthetic?...
I'm pretty sure that the 01-02's received carbon rings in their T56s as opposed to the "paper" blocker rings in the 98-00's.
I've got a 98 and i ran RP synchromax for a summer...absolutely no difference was felt over the dex3 in terms of performance or temperature so i went back and now just change it more often...

OP, Did you fill the trans until it was running out of the fill hole?
The way I used to do it was take the shifter out and pour the fluid in the top until it dripped out of the side fill hole...
