Default raspy exhaust

80' vette with LS1 and mild cam. I am looking for exhast/mufflers that will give me a raspy sound. The closer to F1 or ZX14 land speed motorcycle would be awesome. Not worried about HP/TQ gains just the sound. I will join the exaust with an Xpipe and have true duals. Right now I have manifolds but will add melrose headers when I do the mufflers.

This would indeed give you a loud raspy sound. Go with the most free flowing exhaust you can find and that will be your ticket.

The x pipe and duals will negate your goal of raspiness. I don't think I've ever heard raspy duals on an ls1

He is looking for something exotic sounding not what we call raspy on ls1 f bodies. Im thinking Corsa will get you as close to what you are looking for. Maybe see if a company called Remus has mufflers for what you need. They make motorcycle exhaust but may have some auto applications

'80 Vette guys....sounds like everyone is talking about fbody systems.

94 White T/A nailed it....no rasp with duals and an X. Might want to slap a cheap set of Cherry Bombs and no cats. Should sound like ****....good luck.

Right? lol. Doesn't seem like anyone caught that.

I didn't help much, but it will be a hard sound to make with a vette setup.

His exhaust will look like this:

I believe stock is this:

It doesn't matter if he said 80's vette he kinda said LS1... Guess you guys didn't catch that. Not like the Ls1 in his 80's vette is going to sound different than any other.

Exhaust configuration makes a huge difference in sound. That is exactly why a true dual system eiminates the rasp that is inherent in I-pipe sytems. However, his goal of sounding like an F1 car is basically not acheivable with an LS1. He may be able to chase mufflers that will produce a bit higher pitch, but it is never going to get that F1 wail.
