Default 3rd Gen RX7 Engine Tranny Recommendation

Ok everyone.....I have a 3rd generation coming and looking to see what configuration I really want. This is the goal:
I want my 3rd gen. to be a daily driver.
I want to eat Z06's and at least clock in high 10's or low 11's.
I am not going to put this car on the track but I will drift a bit here and there....
I want the usual AC and PS.

Now I have been looking at putting a GTO LS2 and swap the cam and intake. But boy those are a bit pricey. Any alternatives would be great.

Maybe a cast iron LS2? Too much front weight?

Or just go stock LS1 and put a rear turbo in it.

built 4l60 will be fine. I prefer AUTO for racing over t56. LS1 Heads, cam, intake, 150 shot and you will walk away easily

If you want to do some drifting and enjoy the car anywhere besides the drag strip I'd go with a t56 for tranny. Autos are good for nothing but the strip imo. I know this website is about LS cars but the 20B and 26B rotaries are monster engines. Not sure if you're into rotaries at all. Personally I'd go with an LS2 like you said, or an LS1. Cam, intake, heads, and you should be hanging with Vettes no prob considering the weight of the car. If you want 10s I'd go with a turbo set up too.

I am selling the rotary in the car. I just heard too many horror stories about maintenance on these engines. I can at least sell the rotary and get most of it back to purchase an LS1 possible....

Have not dyno'd yet...its aluminum. Just put it in 2 days ago. With a bone stock ls1 @7-8# it put down 482/502.... now i have the ls2, tick cam, valve springs, ported 317's....so im planning on going to 11-14 Psi...shooting for 600ish. Right now im at 6 psi n it already feels faster then the ls1 setup

Hey brother you need to tell me some details on the Turbo setup? I heard you can get a CHEAP chinese verison and save some bucks. When does your turbo kick in and what are you using to manage it?

i have a masterpower t76 with a .96 hot side. i paid 500 for it. although alot of people have had success with the ebay/Chinese turbos. i built my own header/exhaust system. although you can now buy obx front style headers, flip stock headers, and there are other companies that sell rx7 turbo kit piping. i get full spool around 3400-3500. I use the stock pcm to tune it. i run speed density. no maf or o2 sensors
