It is not a regular stock shifter. Maybe its the stock Hurst option? (The regular shifters had a stamped metal base plate.) If you don't have any options, maybe the previous owner put it in? My '99 was one of the last ones off the line that year and I was told by my dealer that the Hurst shifter was not available when my car went through. (I ordered the option - either they hadn't started using it or they were out of their stock.)

The aftermarket Hurst shifter is much nicer than the factory option one and shifts fine. I've seen a lot of complaints about the factory option model.

Worse than the stock shifters is the stock stick. It has a rubber isolator in it, which is horrible. Just switching out the stick will yield improvements.

Is it possible you have an SS clone...look for the WU8 RPO code if you don't have that then its not a real SS

That shifter looks nothing like my factory hurst optional shifter. That appears to be an aftermarket of some sort.

Lol how did you conclude that it's not a ss? Looking at the shifter? Not all ss or ws6s came with hurst shifters it was a option...
I called Slp before buying it its #1405

The top section is just like a standard 93-02 shifter, made by GHSP and supplied to BW/Tremec. The bottom plate is not the stock Hurst. Also, there's no tilt to the lever. It's some kind of Hurst, but I don't know all their versions over the years.

Just put an MGW in it and be done with it. It looks like a stock type shifter to me (Because its 2 pieces) unless hursts still looked like that too

Seeing something like that, I wonder if the previous owner just Frankenstein'd the shifter or if the entire transmission might have been replaced. (from another car with the shifter attached)

Combining these two thoughts you guys are getting pretty close. It's actually an SLP modified variant of the factory shifter. A friend of mine bought his 02 WS6 brand new and replaced the factory Hurst with one of these. It has a very short crisp throw on his car, yours must be worn out.

See post #18:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...lost-pics.html

they went for about $100

That's it! The nice thing about the aftermarket shifters is that they are rebuildable. It looks like this one is a disposable model.
