Michelin Pilot Super Sport 275/40/17 coming out?
Well, I just added Michelin Pilot Super Sports to my new 18" Grand Sport replica wheels on my Camaro SS -- Consumer Reports rates them tops in UHP tires.
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...s-overview.htm
Car and Driver rated them tops too:

But now I also want them in 275/40/17 for my other Camaro RS -- anyone know if they are going to be coming out in this size?
As it stands, it appears there are no Pilot Super Sport tires available for standard Camaro 16" or 17" wheels...
Michelin sales people are clueless -- maybe someone here has an inside connection/scoop?!

PS2 kinda sucks a little in comparison with 20k mi warranty on the PS2 vs. 30k mi warranty on the PSS. Definitely want the PSS since they're about the same price as the PS2! I had the straight PS tires on my SS previously -- not bad, and one PS2 due to sidewall damage and the regular PS was replaced by the PS2...
Consumer Reports ratings:
PSS 90 of 100
PS2 82 of 100
Looks like here are the current sizes available:

Well if the PSS does not become available in this size, it seems like the next best options are the Michelin PS2 (20k mi. tread wear warranty and pricey) or the BF Goodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 (>=$100 less per tire and NO tread wear mi. warranty). Any other high performer UHP summer tires I should be seriously considering?
Interestingly, Costco told me today that they are no longer carrying BF Goodrich tires (Michelin owns and makes them today), as Michelin is spinning them off as a separate company. Lame.

That's not a bad tire -- dry & wet handling is "Very Good" and dry & wet braking are "Excellent", what kinds of observations do you have about them? Consumer Reports gave it a 78 of 100, their recommended tires are 80 and higher. Lows on that tire are hydroplaning -- middle of the road at "Good", and tread life is "Poor" -- the lowest rating. Ride and noise are "Fair", and rolling resistance is "Good".
The COMP-2's still have not been rated by them -- CR is a day late and a dollar short -- have to wait till fall for their updated ratings. Till then, there is this:

I would guess the Sport Comp 2's will be a more liveable every day tire, and the NT-05 would outperfom it in dry weather perfomance.

Well in light of limited information, I went with the COMP-2s on my RS this past weekend, hopefully the Fall CR tire ratings update will validate my choice, we will see.
That said, I am still hoping Michelin puts the PSS on the 275/40/17! Give people some choices w/out buying a new wheel!
