Default Help @ thoughts on LQ9, 408, Vic jr, CNC LS3 head combo

Hi, i'm building a LQ9 408cu motor for my 1973 HQ GTS Monaro (Australian muscle car), 1400kg's, T56 magnum 6 speed 3.7:1 diff, 27" tyre. it wont be a drag car, just a tuff streeter, weekend car. I know block will be heavy compared to a Alloy, but I can get Lq9 block cheap, and not many LS2/LS3 alloy blocks around here. Car had Iron Holden V8 and Iron heads.
I just wanted some opinions if i'm on the right track with my combo. Also what Carb should I run with this?
LQ9 crate motor, 408 stroker kit, 11:1 comp with 68cc Gm CNC LS3 heads. Victor Jr manifold & carb. Comp cam 281LRR HR13 part number 54-469-11

With heads that big and an open plenum intake, I think most cam gurus are going to tell you to tighten up the lobe separation angle and advance the cam some. With a 3.7 rear gear, maybe something that looks more like low 230s intake, low 240s exhaust on a 108 to 110 LSA and a 106 to 108 ICL. If you are willing to go to a 4.1 rear gear a little bigger.

Was thinking of going 3.9 rear end. Might look into a different cam.

give nick from njc lsx in melbourne a call. he's doing a L98 carb/dizzy on e85 for me. he stocks iron blocks and might even have a short engine on the shelf. porting ls3 heads is still hit and miss.

but as above, for carb needs 108-110 lsa. your cam is an efi cam.
