Thumbs up 3.73 gears question?

I want to upgrade my stock gears and im not sure what to go with. Do i need a series 2 carrier my car is and A4 with 3.23 gears. i was planning on buying motive 3.73 gears what install kit should i go with?

an A4 with 3.23's would have/be on a 3 series carrier. 2 series carriers were used for 2.73s' and 3.08s'.

so it shouldn't matter the carrier size with 3.73s?

it's not carrier size,it's carrier series. But yes,carrier size matters when ordering gears for a GM 10 bolt. The common 10 bolt sizes are 7.5/7.625(4th gen f-body rearend from the factory),8.2,and 8.5/8.625.

You need to get gears for a series 3 carrier.

Get Motive gears in the blue box for a 3 series carrier and a ratech complete install kit. The part # is gm75373 for the gears. I used these in my rear and they are dead quiet so far after 200 miles.

I"m putting the same gears set in that you did in a 2000 ss camaro, Did you do any computer programming, or is it ok the way it is .

Yes you'll need to adjust the computer to get the speedometer correct for the new gears.
