Default What tires will hook on a mild H/C/I car?

As the title says I need some tires that will hook up on the street. Right now I have the Yokohama S-type I believe. 1st gear it kicks out at around 3 grand, then I have to let off and when I hit second it spins some more. I use to think this was cool, but now I want traction. My car has PRC 2.5 heads and a TSP 228R cam. Did 414rwhp on a MD dyno.

Nitto NT05R or Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial II for more traction.

Toyo Proxes TQ or Nitto NT555R for a more streetable DR.

Okay. I just want one where I can launch in first and it will hook through second. All of the above are going to wear down much quicker than my current tire right?

Anything that's sticky will wear down. The NT555Rs and Toyos seem to wear better. Maybe 12-15k or even more depending.

The MT would be 5-6k mile tires and the NT05Rs maybe around the 5-8k mark. Maybe 10.

I run 315/17 555Rs... I dead hook heating them at 20 and I can't complain about traction at all from a dig.

I've owned both the 555R's and the Toyo TQ's, and either one of those would be a good choice IMO

I have almost your exact set up. I had Toyo TQ's and they were a great all around tire, I wasn't able to get them to hook all that great at the track. I got a hole in one of them, so I cant tell you how many miles I got. I'm switching to et street II's now since my car is only a weekend cruiser.

What is a good price for those? Mines a street car so I really only care about hooking on the street. My Yokohamas were fine when I was bolt ons but now not so much.

A few years back I got 315/35/17 Toyo TQ's for like $170 a piece. I think I paid around $190 for the 555R's

The 555Rs and TQs are the cheapest.

TQ from TireRack or 555R from Discount Tire.
