Default Which High Flow Cats Should I Use With Pacesetters?

I have Pacesetter headers I will be installing soon to my Magna flow cat back system on my 04V.. Anybody have a recommendation/ link for which high flow cat to go with? My Magnaflow is 2.5' and the Pacesetters came with a 2.5' reducer piece so I know the cats need to be 2.5' inlet/outlet size but that's about it. I also know cutting/welding will be involved and I am OK with that.

Does your locality do a sniff test or just an OBD2 test? If there's no sniff test, just go with test pipes. Your high flow cats will set off the rear O2 sensors, and you'll have to have them deactivated. You might as well go with test pipes.

I want high flow cats in there so that's not an option.

IIRC Magnaflow 59956 is the 2.5 in/out 200 cell cat.

yeah you will be doing a full custom setup without going with a different header/cat combo like kooks or something. honestly i have no cats and it doesnt sound overly loud. i would skip the cats if it where me.

Dave -

I for one appreciate the cats on modern cars. Get behind a car without them and they have a much stronger exhaust smell.

You can always tell when they've been removed.

That part number comes up as a cat for a 97 Buick Regal.

Kooks... you can buy connectors for stock exhaust or Corsa. Bolts right up.

Kooks has high-flow cats as an option to their headers, and from what I can tell on the system on my car, it bolts directly up to the magnaflow exhaust system. I have that trio set-up. I believe the nice thing about Kooks is their headers and cats bolt up to the stock exhaust, and there fore other exhaust setups that work with the stock cats.

Thanks for highjacking my thread Jeff. Not everyone is rich like you and can afford Kooks headers with Kooks cats.

If I was going to build a system based on the pacesetters I would weld a 3in V-Band to the end of the header to a 3in to 2.5in transition then to the cat inlet. I would then cut the magnaflow and v-band clamp the cat exit to the magnaflow. With this if I ever decided to remove the headers or sell the cat-back it can go back together with v-bands.

I looked at my exhaust set up today. My xpipe hooks to the stock manifolds at the point they end. No spacer or anything. What header can I hook up direct to that without any modifications? Also what can I do to turn off my rear o2s without going to a tuner (nearest one is 250 miles away)
