Cool whats a nice sized cam for me???

im in the market for a new cam and I want to know a good size that has been working quite well for people any suggestions

I was thinking a 224/224 cam with maybe a lift between 500 and 600, I need some feed back on this one, what else will I have to change or motify if I get a new cam (reprograming, pushrods, etc...)???

Ive got SLP headers, y-pipe, cats, flowmaster exaust, K&N and some other stuff.

Oh yea what kind of powergains am I going to expect with a sweet cam

Before anyone can effectivly answer your questions, we are going to need a little more info from you.

Such as, is your car an A4 or an M6?
What state do you live in, are you worried about passing smog?
Do you want your idle to sound lopey, or do you want it to sound stock?
How much are you willing to spend? Cam packages arn't cheap!

With the info you provided I can answer a couple of your questions. As far as parts go, you will need new valvesprings, and hardened pushrods. It is optionial to get Ti retainers, a new timing chain, and a new LS6 ported oil pump. Depending on the size of the cam, computer tuning is optionial, unless you buy a cam that is pretty radical.

Depending on the size of the cam and previous mods, you can expect anywhere from 15-35 rwhp increase with a cam.

The 224/224 from Thunder Racing is a good all around cam, many people have it. Look for it in sigs and search in the Dyno Archive section. Many people will tell you to stay away from SLP. You will need springs, pushrods, and titanium retainers are a good idea.

id look into the tr224 on a 114lsa. Great street/strip cam that should give you great gains. Most cars dyno over 380-390rwhp with all the boltons

Id ditch the flowmaster too btw

GT2-3 cam if you want the sleeper cam. You will see about 25-35 rwhp increase. Not lope at all and sounds stock.
