Default Will my TC make my Tranny slip too much?

I just recently bought a TCI3000 converter. I talked to my tranny guy and he tells me not to put it in because the tranny will just slip, heat up and die. I currently have a deep pan and B&M cooler. I'm running a 3.23 rear end and a small cam. I am planning on LT headers and true duals the same time I put the converter on. Do I need a higher gear rear end? Would a shift kit help? Are there any drawbacks of installing a shift kit?

A higher stall will cause higher trans temps. But, you'll be fine with a cooler, don't even need a deep pan. It's just extra insurance. If you're concerned with tranny life most people will tell you not to do a shift kit. A trans temp gague is a good idea too, I'm going to be doing mine soon.

Thanks guys, but lemme clarify. Does the shift kit prolong tranny life? or not?

And do I need the rear gears?

You sound like your ready to go, you got the cooler, and pan, and a small cam.

The only thing I would suggest to you is sending the TC back to get re-stalled, a 3000 is pretty small, you could go up to a 3500 and sacrifice nothing at all. Your gears are pretty good too.

I have a 3800 with 2.73 gears and it cool with me , cept I keep throwing the P0757 code because I have an 02 with a large stall
