Try some basic VATS stuff first, 1) try a different key, or go to a mom and pop key maker and get a new key cut - they will measure the resistance on the pellet and will cost only a few dollars to make a new key vs. the dealer doing it. Does the security light come on. I've been through these VATS issues and is so easy to think its the battery when it's the ignition resistor that needs to be bypassed.

I'd probably do this; 1) If you have an external charger, you could try charging battery, See if it can hold a charge. I've heard of bad batteries out of the box. Remove negative car terminal off battery (to avoid damaging pcm) and place charger clamps on battery and charge, see how goes 2) You could take battery back where you bought it and see what they say after testing it. thinking out loud but wondering if alternator is dead.
