Default Need to know what this sensor is called?????

I was having my car tuned today and my tuner said the computer isnt seeing that the car is being put into drive. He said I need to replace the sensor but I didnt ask him what it was. He said it was probably under the console. Anyone know what sensor it is and where at?

Park/neutral position switch. Power should flow from the brown wire (C) to the orange/black (B) back to the PCM to tell it is in gear. When not in gear the PCM gets no power signal.
It is important that the PCM knows this status as different tables use this info. You might want to do a little testing to see if the switch is bad or something else.

It's not a sensor. It is a switch, is absolutely in the console, and yes they all have them.

And is this what is commonly known as a neutral safety switch or is it something different? If it is, I would think mine is functioning properly since I went and tried to start the car in drive and it wouldnt turn over.

I provided it's proper name in post #4. If it won't start in gear and will in park or neutral, it would seem to be working. A scanner will also tell you its status.
