Default Ls Turbo Swap in what Chassis?!?!?!

Looking into doind a Ls Turbo build and wondering whats the best Chassis to use as a platforum for a Street/Strip car.

Goals to meet...
-Light Weight
-Good Solid Axle Rear End Capable (w/out having to rob a bank)
-Open Engine bay, Room for FMIC, Twins, or One BIG Single.

Also might attempt to keep the A/C working, anyone got tips on this?

I'm doing a 74' Datsun 260z ! Light weight, Various rear end options(Straight axle or IRS), Enough engine bay room for a Big turbo( i haven't seen twins yet) and FMIC. I'm not doing A/C for a weekend fun, occasional strip/track car. Plus I don't have to smog it in Cali !

Fox Mustang, I Know its already really common, but they are light weight, solid axle, easy to get parts for. Good amount of engine bay room too. Mine isn't a big snail but I can fit a big one under there if I wanted to. And I am running AC and the intercooler still fits and has a 4 inch thick core, so you have room for a radiator, ac condenser and thick intercooler.

71 Monte Carlo. You can fit a huge turbo in front of the motor in that thing!

I am leaning towards a Notch Fox lol, just wanted to see what ppl thought also.

How hard was it getting th A/C to function? what all got used from the Ls and what got used from the Fox?!

Well curently I haven't got the ac running yet. Just got the motor started for the first time 2 weeks ago and sadly it hasn't left the jack stand yet though. Its fighting me tooth and nail at this point with trans leaks and oiling issues and drain for the turbo, and now a cracked oil pan. But for AC I am using a sanden ac compressor with custom brackets for it, a new stock fox body ac condenser (which is super cheap btw, like $65 brand new) All I need now is to build ac lines and put a drier in the sytem, super easy since they are all on one side of the motor. As far as making it work, should be easy from I've read you let the pcm control it all, just wire in a high side pressure switch somewhere. Hopefully someone else can chime in on that since wiring isn't my strong point but when I read about it in theory it sounds pretty simple getting the ac to work.

I hate mustangs too, but they make it so easy to do the swap its a no brainer. I literally hate having to tell people I own a mustang and that I am building a mustang as a project, it helps a little being able to tell people I put a real motor and trans in it though.

I hate them also, but for something stupid fast and cheap its a no brainer and kinda of a slap in the face to a Die Hard Ford Fan when you tell them a stock Ls V8 w a Turbo goes 150+ in the 1/4 while they have a fully built Dart Block on race gas w a power adder to go low 10s lmao!

Man I wish you could "like" posts on here, cause I would "like" this. Our local forum has that option, kinda cool.

Bro, he said light weight, not a tank, but yeah, plenty of room under the hood.

Still a toss up between Twins or a Big single....Kinda want it to spool fast for a fun ride on the street, thinking a big single might be out

How about a Fairmont? A Foxbody without being a Mustang. This is my favorite Fairmont. It's a Futura with a LTD front end.
