Funny...as do I. Bought it for $1200 sight unseen off of Craig's List and I can't kill it. I drive like an A-hole and it still gets 32 MPG with the AC on.
No offense OP...but some things you just can't go cheap on, even if its a PITA without the correct tools.

if its just the boot and no road grime or water got in that cv then take a ride to auto zone and pick up a boot kit. now getting that outer cv off is gonna be one hell of a bitch and id rather take the inner stub off ( comes off 1000x easier as it had a retaining clip that normal needle nose will take off) pull the outer boot off of the axle shaft and slide the new boot back over to the outer... strap the new boot and replace the boot on the inner stub as you put it back together.
or buy a used complete axle.. good luck man but its not that bad of a job

The outer has a lock ring on the inside of the cup at the top. Pop that out and it comes right apart. I would do the outer just to get the old grease out and repack with new stuff. Never know what's made it's way in there.

Got mine for free from my mother in-law. I beat the living crap out of mine as well and can't believe how it keeps running, and well. I think I may end up trying to turbo the thing before it dies, just to see if I can.
