Default making 500+ rwhp...is my exhaust hurting me????

i have a 96 camaro ss with a stock ls3 shortblock, TFS 220 as cast heads...vengeance vindicator cam...fast 92 intake unported...11.7cpr...custom 3 inch 90 intake elbow with a 85 mm MAF(silverado ss)down to the parking light(stock lt1 location) 1 7/8 arm headers with 3 inch arh catted y....slp 2otl catback(no cone of silence) ive heard my exhaust may be restricted since im making 500 rwhp. i didn't didn't know if a cut out in the i pipe would help or ORY...i kept the 2otl because its quiet for my neighborhood/kids......i know back in the ls1 days this exhaust flowed well but now that i have more cubes and such if that scenario changed...just feels like my car is being choked up after 6000 rpm...my tuner thinks my car needs a better air intake or exhaust....just want to hear your thoughts...thanks

It certainly wouldn't hurt, but it may not be that big of a gain either

Doesnt sound too bad to me. A cutout will help alot though as mentioned above.

I think the 3" intake tube ,and the 85 mm MAF is restricting your airflow need for your engine.

I'd install a Y-pipe merger with a 4" exit and run it into a 4" cut-out, after the cut-out reduce it back down to 3" before the over-axle pipe. A 3.5" intake tube probably wouldn't hurt either.

My intake tube is 3.5in but it has quit a few bends in it..the 4 inch I pipe with cut out has crossed my mind...also going to run 4 in air intake all the way...the 90angle off my intake is 4 in then the 85 maf then 3.5 tube into the stock lt1 cai location. Have to start somewhare I guess

Keep the intake as short as possible. Feed it fresh air

I would add a dual 3->4 inch Y with a cutout and then back down to your catback.

The 85mm maf is enough, but like others have said shorten the intake side. I would work on the merge on the y-pipe. Get a Flowmaster merge make your y pipe 3" into the merge and 4" out. Like others have said put a cutout on it. This is what I have and even have cats also. I have a Slp dual dual for street driving then open the cutout at the track. Its a good combo that I think has produced great results.

Does the intake tube get warm or hot while the engine is running? If it does consider putting a heat barrier over it.

My IAT readings arent all that bad. As far as a lid I cant fit an ls1 style lid because of the lower profile lt1 hood. Its getting freash air from behind the left side head light. ..im going to try 4 inch intake all the from drivers side fender. Wish I could run the ls1 air lid set up but I dont think cutting up an discontinued 96 ss slp hood.

At that power level a single 3" pipe is costing you power no doubt. How much? Who knows, but I would get a 3" y pipe and put a 4" merge on it with a 4" cutout before it goes over the axle.

Good combo you got there by the way

my car makes around 400rwhp converter unlocked and even with 3" duals it picks up ~.1 and ~1mph consistently by opening dual cutouts located about 10-12" behind each header collector

so I am always skeptical when people talk about a 3" single being anywhere close to adequate on even a lowly cammed car (even with a cutout)

heads and cam or forced induction = 4" or 3" duals IMO
