Default Redline shift boot - pics!

I wanted to spice up the shifter so I purchased and installed a V2 shift **** and Redline shift boot.

Here's the stocker. The bezel is all gummy and needs to be cleaned up.

Carefully using some pliers and a flat-tip screwdriver, I removed the silver ring and removed the old boot.

After countless time cleaning with "Goo Gone" followed by Dawn dish liquid and a good rinse, the new bezel is ready for the shift boot. The tabs of the shift boot were pulled through the correct slots and taped to hold it in place. Then use 3M Fast Tack Trim Adhesive to secure it. This is the point to NOT be in a rush to avoid contaminating the fabric that you want visible.

The new boot is installed. Here is a comparison of the old and new.

Here is the final product. New shift boot, V2 shift ****, and gum-free bezel!

This is what I purchased from Redline:
CTS-V 03-07 shift boot, ALC 9040 leather, Silver thread ( 4-PANEL )

It looks really good I like the suede but I think the gto shifter is a little better. Just my personal opinion not trying to say that looks bad.

I think that combo is great! How much did the boot cost you if you don't mind me asking?

That's on my list, once I get done with the functional modifications to the car. But I've never liked suede shift boots, and I don't like their grainy leather. I'll almost certainly take my car to a custom shop for a combination of leather wrapping and hydrodipping to give the center console a smooth, angled, mirrored look. As close as I can get to this:

So the trick is Go-Gone; good to know!

My dash insert is microsuede(what the cool kids are calling alcantra).

MY family has an upolstery business, so I bet I could talk my aunt into making me a custom shift boot from microsuede.

The dash cost me about $10, so I cannot see this being anymore than $5.

Looks good though!

The Redline suede boot cost me $91.50 - it was shipped from Poland so I guess it was made there as well.

Yep, took a lot of elbow grease wiping all the gummy residue away. The residue must have kept it preserved because it's really shiny and looks brand new!

Just a FYI the V2 shift **** is not weighted! Depending on your preference that is good or bad. Personally, I would have preferred it with much more weight - oh well.
