Default Turbo the Bavarian Monster - LM7 turbo questions

Well I have been building at 1988 BMW 325is. I picked up a a 2004 LM7 motor last week and had full intention of just making it a high CR motor and calling it good. Then I started reading about how these motor like the boost....

WHAT SAY YOU BOOST FREAKS??

My N/A build idea:
  • 4.8L flat top pistons
  • ls6 cam
  • 243 heads or milled 317's
  • ls1 or ls6 intake (depending on the deals)
  • rocker upgrade
  • spring upgrade
  • custom headers
  • ported TB

It just so happens that I have a Garrett TP38 turbo and a set of 60lbs. Deka injectors laying around from a different project.

Possible turbo build:
  • stock bottom end (minus the bearings that have been replaced
  • ls6 cam (suggestions on a better one??)
  • new push rods
  • valve springs
  • rocker upgrade
  • stock heads
  • ls1 or ls6 intake (depending on deals)
  • ported TB
  • Custom headers

Mind you this is somewhat of a budget build. I'm looking for 550hp at the wheels, and I can't justify the $400 plus just on a cam right now. Do you think that the combo above might get me at my goals?

Also.......the car is only going to weight about 2500lbs. once completed, so please don't tell me I get tired of 500hp range.......I need to make sure it doesn't kill me first.

And the little beast..........

If you want more info on what I've done the the car so far see my build thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...n-monster.html

I like the boost build. 550 Would be cake. The LS6 cam is not optimal obviously but will work. What are the specs on the turbo?

I would boost it just not with that turbo. its way too small. (60mm compressor) it might make 550hp on little engine but probably wont flow enough at the low p/r that you will be at on a ls. BTW if its a LM7 it would be a 5.3l

These are the specs:

Compressor wheel inducer diameter: 59.87 mm (60 mm)
Compressor wheel exducer diameter: 80 mm
Compressor housing A/R: 1.10
Turbine wheel inducer diameter: 76.2 mm
Turbine wheel exducer diameter: 69.84 mm (70 mm)
Turbine housing A/R: 1.15

I was going to use it on a ford 5.0 as a lot of guys have had good success making that 550 number. Without calculating the VE in the 5.3L I figured it would probably just spool quicker.

I realize that its a 5.3L, the reason 4.8L was mentioned was in relation to the flat top pistons it uses. The bore on a 5.3 and 4.8 are the same, so they're interchangeable. the first list of parts was for an N/A high CR motor.

KCS doesn't have to snitch. He's a forum moderator, not a regular forum member. He can edit/delete your posts at will, as often or as many times as he wants.

You're literally posting one after another. Going around reviving 5 year old threads without asking any questions or giving any relevant information. Its usually just "me too".
Then when someone says something about it you do these 3-5 post long rants that nobody is going to bother to read. You're acting like a whiny 16 year old.
