Default 243 and 799 head.

would it be ok to run a 243 on one side and a 799 on the other??

From what i have gathered they are the same head aside from the difference in casting number so you should be fine.

can and should kinda depends...the 799 tend to be rougher so they might be a little off on flow

without having them both in hand it's hard to say whether I would or not

well now I found a good deal on a set of 243's so if I can sell my 799 ill be good to go

The 799s were slightly rougher cast, and I believe the 243s had sodium filled valves, while the 799 did not.

No not all 243's had sodium valves, only the ones that came on ls6 engines did. With that said I have held the 2 in my hand and couldnt see any difference in the smoothing of the casting. I have even heard of guys getting ls2's or truck motors that have a 799 on one side and 243 on the other so I wouldnt worry

well i got lucky,, selling my 799 head for 120. and found a set of 243's for 300 bucks lol
