2002 Trans AM with D1 Procharger
I have a 2002 Trans AM with a D1 Pro charger with race inter cooler.I would like to relocate my air filter from its current position. The factory air inlet hat with filter is located to low for my likings. Where else can piping be ran to make it safer to drive when it rains and to keep the filter from getting dirty so quick. I am also thinking about just putting a filter directly on the supercharger because the air inlet hat causes a lot of restriction from what I have heard. Anyone with some pictures of there modifications would be greatly appreciated.

That's funny I'm doing mine right now as we speak with the race intercooler in the front bob from brute speed has a 90 elbow that will go on the procharger I'm using the strainer that procharger has that goes right on the head unit

I routed mine to the front. The stock plastic splash shield cover bolts up with some minor modifications to the plastic cover.
I plan to remove the bumper ends completely. When I do that there will be even more room for the filter. I have an EPP FMIC so I had to cut the center section out of the bumper for the FMIC leaving the ends of the bumper which take a fair amount of room. If removed a nice place to hang a meth pump or transmission cooler.
Filter is a K & N. Just a little shorter but same diameter than the K&N most often used.

It's the flex pipe supplied with the ATI kit. It's wire reinforced. I doubt ATI would supply a hose kit that would collapse. I suppose one could use steel flex tubing as long as you wrapped the steel tubing to keep it from leaking.
Someone asked what the other pipe is for. That's the aluminum piping attached to the outlet side of the charger. That pipe that routes around to the inlet side of the FMIC.

I agree! If you have a boost gauge, try removing the filter and make a run in a clean area and see if you don't make more boost. Just be careful as if it makes a lot more boost it could go lean. Bob
