Default sloppy mechanics s480/s475 testing

of course all testing is subjective and results may vary but in the interest of reading, comparing, and conversation i figured i would post up some results on 2 of our cars and changing out the turbos.

so we did a turbo swaps last weekend with donavans cars for a test, took the firebird with the 6.0 and billet s480, and the 5.3 notch with the s475, we put the s475 on the firebird and the s480 on the notch. reason why is, the firebird has a tighter stall converter and since its a little portly (4060 with driver) it needs the 60ft to really fly. it was hard to build boost with the larger turbo without going crazy on the converter and ruining how the car drives essentially, the notch, since you can get like 4500 on the trans brake easily, would make it easy to light off that big exhaust side s480, so since the notch is lighter and is more race oriented, it made the decision easy. Don swapped the turbos and we are proud to say the operation was a success. the trans am lights the s475 much easier on the foot brake and we can basically open the wastegate sitting still, so that should fly, and since the converter is huge on the notch there is basically no difference in spool, we wanna throw either one on the dyno and see the power difference and if they make sense. but thought that would be an interesting report for all of you haha

Interesting stuff. Always interesting how weight affects everything.

Keep us posted on the dyno results for the Notch. Taking it to the track soon to see some more accurate results?

it has a gen4 rodded 6.0 and 243 heads now, but we put that turbo on the notch

wich has a gen3 5.3 in it lol. gunna take it out on 20ish, gotta see what the car makes on the dyno. it did 609 on 20lbs before i believe

How are you getting them to hold that much on the footbrake. Mine was creepin thru the beams with almost no boost at 3100.

Any special prep or procedures or parts to help when on the footbrake?
