Default Need your thoughts on this stereo system

I've been out of the stereo market for sometime now. Alpine was the best the last time I was into it about ten years ago. Anyway, I have the oppurtunity to purchase a used system from a friend. It consists of the eclipse model 55040 CD receiver, an Alpine MRV-1507 Amplifier, 6 MB Quart speakers (2) MB Quart Qm 160's, (2) MB Quart Qm 100's, (2) MB quart tweeter 1.5" and 2" also (2) MB Quart crossovers. The only number I can find on the crossovers is 300.72. Research so far has led me to believe the part number on the crossovers are MCX328. This would be replacing the Monsoon system in my 2001 Camaro SS. The owner originally wanted $800.00 but for a friend (me) he said he would take $500.00. Is this decent stuff? Is it worth $500.00? Should it sound better than the Monsoon and if not what else what I need?
Thanks, SS3933

It's easily worth $500 in my eyes. The Alpine 1507 amp retailed for over $900 when it was new, it's the largest 2 channel amp they have made as far as I know.

I don't know much about MB Quart speakers (as far as model #'s go), but I would guess that's a component set. Check the crossovers and see if they have outputs for 3 sets of speakers.

Used audio equipment is never that easy to move, so you might see if you can get some wiring out of the guy too.

Thanks for the info. I checked the crossovers and they are three-way. I think I'm gonna hold out though. I would rather have a system that will work with my steering wheel controls.

Would you mind seeing what he would sell me the component set for? And maybe a model number?
