Default Your thoughts....

When I had my motor rebuilt, I talked to the machinist about nitrous (150 shot max) and he gapped the rings for it....then I hear about the fly-cut stock pistons with N2O isn't the best idea.
So....up in the air IF it'll get sprayed or not....maybe a 100 shot...IDK

Do you think my rings are too loose and letting compression pressurize the motor which caused my dip stick tube to spray oil ?

Only "venting" the motor had was a single 3/8" line from the drivers side valve cover to the rear of carb. Pass. side valve cover is capped.

Or what other ideas you think it could be ??
I was told to do a leak down test.

I did add a big ricer looking breather to the oil fill cap, but haven't been back out.

Let it breathe some more??? id try a bigger filter the oil cap, a non ricer one, lol. I don't get any spray from the one in the valley, but my motor is just cammed and basically stock. Sounds like yours is makin a lot of pressure

That breather on the oil cap is pretty close to what I have...LOL

I drilled a hole in the cap, used a 1" NPT threaded brass hose barb.

I thought you meant one of those small triangle cone ricey ones, that should be enough, I just thougt Id try the valley plate. I got a small round one on the tube of the valve cover too.

post a pic of your engine Doug, the way you described it in your first post sounds like the engine has no breathing at all, but then you mension a breather in the pass side vc, oil cap? I agree to let it breath! but I am not a fan of venting the valley cover, as when I tryed that it sprayed oil VERY BAD
Did the machine shop say how deep they flycut the pistons? because I cut mine .070"ish, and the releif is no where near the edge of the piston, I would not be afraid of sprayin some NO2 on them at all.

My lq4 has oil in several places under the hood, I need to see what's the issue. Has PCV and the small 20$ filter on the passenger valve cover. Gotta spray it all down and see where it's coming from.

I say if you did not cut more than .050 on the piston a 150 shot should be ok.

I'd have to look at the paperwork again.... .624 lift,.050 cut, and .100 I/E (or maybe that was the clearances ??? LQ4 w/ LS3 heads and stock bottom end)

Barrett, yes had NO breather, just a PCV line to carb.....NOW has breather like the pic above in oil fill cap only and still the 3/8" PCV line.

i use the same style breather on the valve cover as this one. i always zip tie a rag around it. usded to have to change it every other track day started to get a lil saturated. after i started spraying nitrous through the motor, i havent had to change it once lol 12 bottles ran through it 150-275hp levels. maybe you should spray it a lil lol worked for me

I cut my stock ls2 pistons just over .070 but mines cut for ls3 heads so its close to the edge. I hope it holds a 100
