Default cam only ss vs ls swapped datsun

went to a little car show this weekend and met a guy with a 280z with an ls1 swap. Talked to the guy for a little while and turns out we know a lot of the same people and weve raced a few of the same people and we should be pretty close. Met up with him later on that night for a cpl runs.
My car is pretty much cam only with a small amount of weight reduction, it was pretty heavy when we raced with a full tank of gas, interior put back in for the car show, sway bar back on etc. made a little over 400 wheel
I don't know a lot about his car, he said it made 350ish and weighs less than 2500 lbs

The first run was from 40, I took the hit, stayed pretty even through 2nd, he pulled a little on me in third, and he took about half a car by the top of fourth.
We slowed down to run again and thought I smelled a bit of clutch, we hit it in 2nd again around 45 and he pulled instantly, I shifted into third but it was already over.
The first race was really close, hopefully with a little **** taken back out we can run again, if my clutch will hold

he videoed the runs, ill try and post them up, theyre on facebook but it wont let me upload them for some reason

Good death. LS swapped Zs are rockets. Considering the weight difference it's awesome that you even kept up.

Owner of the Datsun here. It was a good race the first time, second one wasn't really a race. I'll try and get the video uploaded to youtube later today.

Definitely need a rematch. My car put down 348/37x at the wheels. Stock 98 cam, LS1 intake, 799 heads milled a bunch, headers. Desperately needs a cam and intake, but the weight advantage makes up for it.

Pretty easy to make 360 rwhp with a 8.2 motor, so yeah I expect the same results.

I know plenty.....I probably know more than most of you.....or atleast will admit to the differences.

he said 8.2. Now as far as I know ford didn't make a 8.2. I also don't think a 8.2 is a sbf. Now if he meant some other custom size then it would make sense since your not gonna get 360whp outta the ford ****. So I'm sure it will be a stroked something with aftermarket heads and basically nothing ford about it. That's how you make a sbf run. You get rid of almost everything F.

Your paragraph there shows your ignorance on a Ford the 8.2 is the deck height of lil ole 302......

Ye dude.....I keep all deck heights in my brain

Typical ford guy **** dancing around the real answer. Kinda like when Stoppy said his pushrod ford was a 5.4. It's a problem you guys have. Also like the **** you were trying to pull with ova.

Nor should you remember it but don't go off about something if you don't know what you're talking about is all I'm saying man

I got him riled up and made him spend a bunch of money because some said his car was slow over the internet.....Just imagine if everyone did that when you told them their Cam only cars are turds because your bolt car goes faster.......Summit and Jegs would love you!

I had a 6.0 Fox i was putting together and Military obligations made me sell the car for something I could enjoy now so I picked up the blue car then the Silver one because of the deal I got on it.......My 6.0 fox would have more than likely wiped the floor with any of these Cobras but life happens and I can't say no to Uncle Sam...

STILL not sure why you aren't swapping and LSx in that car, I think you're a closet Raggedy Ferd lover

I like it better with the ford in it. It's probably worth more with the ford in it and at some point I will sell it.

I'm not saying the ford stuff is unlikeable(although 2v trucks are) or not cool. My point is more the **** ford guys try to hide about their ****. I've have had lots of friends with fords over the years. Hell I would like to do a bolt on Mach some day. Do I think it would run with a ls car????...hell no but that don't mean I wouldn't like it.

You know the term "Cam Only" is probably the most churched up lie there is in The Car world right now.... People swapping "Stock" heads off another LS motor and calling it cam only

No one is ever going to be truthful about 3 things

1.) how much money they have in their car
2.) How much power their car makes
3.) What EXACTLY is done to the car so it seems like it performs better than it should for what it has even though its more than likely under performing

No one likes failure

I'll tell anyone everything I have done. It don't mean they can do it.....and it don't mean they can do it as well. I don't get the bs side of this.

As far as money goes....who the hell knows??? Hotrodding is a constant bleed, just like any other hobby.
