Default questions about choice/Cam swap on 2010 LY6 with 100,000 miles.... Replace lifters?

Hello all,

I don't know the previous history of the engine, only that it was in a plain-jane 2500 regular cab truck.... being a 2010 with 100,000 miles, they were mostly highway miles I think..

I am going to do a cam swap to make sure I have plenty of power out of this engine.... as I have driven a stock 2500 truck with this type of engine and I wasn't overly impressed with the top end or torque for that matter, of course, it was a long bed, quad cab, and very heavy ....

I have two VVT cams, one with 210/218 @.050 and .499/.499 lift

or

a Mast VVT-1 with the 220/234 @ .050 and .570/.588

This is going in a 5,000 lb LY6/4L80E / 4.11 gears/ 33-35 inch tires- 4X4 swapped truck with a 2,200 stall PTC converter....

I am looking for maximum power and mileage out of the cam, the best of both worlds.... thus, the reason I am staying VVT.....

hate to come off as a newb, but, I am not used to these VVT cams and camming a VVT engine for a heavy truck..... All I know is that I don't want to be dissappointed at the gas pump or when I put the skinny pedal down....

I am just as afraid of doing all the work and being dissappointed with the cam being either too small or too large. I have been trying to get feedback on the MAST VVT-1 cam users with trucks and see what kind of mileage people are reporting compared to the stock cams....

Also, I am wondering if I should replace these lifters while I am into the engine or just do the cam swap and leave the stock lifters in place?

Try a SEARCH using "Patrick G" He has spec'd a custom VVT cam with success before. Obviously he specs the proper springs and might have insight on lifters. At least replace them with new replacement lifters.

I just bought a ly6 complete engine with 30,000 miles. My plan is to install it in my 2006 pontaic gto with a built t56 trans. I want to install headers without cats back, loopy cam that makes power on the big end. Now deleting the vvt do I need to change the lifters? I've been messaging the guys from texas speed and they say no all I need is

VVT you only change the cam sprocket, front cover, and the sensor itself, along with a wiring extension.
AFM/DOD you change the lifters, lifter trays, pushrods, and valley cover. Plus cam if desired.

OP. What did you end up installing? I've got an L96 and I'm looking to do the same.

Both the LS3 and Gen IV rectangular head truck intakes are excellent units. They both are good for 600 HP and dyno the same numbers.
