Default Time for new parts, track soon

well finally got my 799 heads somewhat ported on exhaust and few other places, had them milled 30 off too with new springs,, then sent ptc converter back and let Kenny move it to 5000 stall,, got the new cam from
Tick 617/589 at 231/240 107 intake center line,,, so I hope to hit some good et's before soon,, plus putting it on e85 fuel too. my buddy benji coming next day or 2 to come check for pushrod length and ptv too,,,

I got tired of keeping the orange motor clean....

I opted for black this time....and left the heads natural.

I don't think the aluminum goes that great with orange.

It should do great. More rpm and power.

I bet it feels like a whole new car!

Glad you like it.

On the PTV subject, while the "rule of thumb" is .100" on the exhaust or greater, I feel in Windmill's case, .090" will be fine on the exhaust with .110" on the intake.

Plenty safe for 7000rpm shifts and over revs. It should run some solid mid 6 second passes on motor and it will probably go faster than that when it really cools off.

Customer of ours a few years back got the "stock bottom end N/A cam only record" in a Mustang with a 6.20. Single plane intake, V.1 Polluter cam(V.2 would crush that E.T.),as cast 799 heads milled .020"-.025" I believe. This was on a 6.0 as well.

The lack of burn rate SHOULD want more time, but that is my assumption.

It should. You can always test it if you can get it to not spin. Go out in third gear rolling around 40-50mph and mat the gas pedal. See what RPM it jumps to.

That should be your flash rpm you'll see on launch or very close to it.

I would have to say that cam is going to want at least a 7000rpm shift if not 7200-7400.

It's not going to even peak until 6400-6600. I'd make one pass at 6500rpm and then the next pass turn it up to 6700-6800. Next pass try 7000rpm.

I bet it continues to pick up the higher you shift it.

I'd also start out with 18-20 degrees timing at idle up to 2500rpm. From 2500rpm to 5000rpm run 30 degrees. From 5000-6000rpm run 28 degrees. From 6000rpm to red line put 32 degrees in it.

Try that out first and see what it does. Keep adding timing from 2500-5000 in one degree increments along with adding timing from 6000rpm to red line in one degree increments.

You can experiment with more timing between 5000-6000, but for now at least I'd leave it alone. This is where peak torque will be made and it needs less timing during peak torque than in other areas of the curve.

Oh ok here what happen to night,,,, my car did run like 1.51 or 2's 60 ft and run like 7.03's and 4's at 97mph when the last time I ran with stock motor with vic jr ,,

oh k tonight would not 60 ft for crap was not spinning but felt like it was right before my shift point at 6500 and felt it right after the shift too,,, my timing was after 2000 rpm was 35 deg till 6500. it would have tonight1.51 and 52's 60fts but would run 6.62,6.63,6.64 all at 106 and 107 mph...

now the bad the converter did good but I could still only leave around 2300 before it push thu the lights,, but the good it would flash to 4700rpms... I was happy with the et's but not the 60fts... so next thing to do is take 2 inch spacer off then maybe try jetting up the carb some,, to get the 60 fts up some,,,,and also im running the same jets as I was when it was on the bone stock motor... oh I know I need wide band too....but these are the first passes changing the cam heads and converter..... but sunday im going to do some testing then,,, tonight it rain it out,,

The 60' isn't bad because it's not making any power. It's bad because your spinning. More power sooner won't help, it will make it worse.

Work on the suspension. Leave the spacer on it. Shift it at 7000rpm.

Try leaving off idle next time. See what it does. It has to be shifted higher though. Especially with the power glide.

It needs more fuel too.

Nice mph though! 10mph gain is very nice! As is the E.T.! 107mph is good for 6.30's easily.

With more fuel AND rpm it will pick up 1-2mph I guarantee it.

If it ran well with 35, leave 35 in it. Less timing with more fuel will make less power.

E85 likes fuel and timing. Give it what it wants. Read the plugs if you can as well.

Try flashing the stall off idle and see if it leaves harder. If not, we may have to have stall speed increased to 5400. PTC gives one free re-stall IIRC.

Not a problem at all, I'm glad you're happy with it and your first outing!
