Default What is the sensor/plug hooked to my shifter plate?

I was changing out my shifter and whoever did it before me didn’t connect this plug back to the gear shift plate. It was just shoved down in front of it. What does this sensor do?

I believe that is for service diagnostics and shouldn't be plugged into anything normally.

If your talking about the plug that clips to the front of the shifter plastic plate I believe it is for the radio unit I left mine unplugged on accident and had no power to the radio unit and plugged it back in and it came back on

no it's a different plug that just lies near the back/side of the shifter area.

This plug is attached to the shifter plate under the ash tray area. It clips into a slot on the shifter plate.

Is it for the rear seat power outlet? Think that's actually clipped to the console but I haven't been in there in a while.

The loose plug is for the automatic transmission shifter in the base CTS.
