Talking all around good cam

hey im lookin for a decent cam that drives well with a daily driver and kicks but on the strip...im lookin for @25rwhp gains and a good sound to it

I want something that sounds great but is closer to stock...

Alot of guys have been telling me the 224/224 would be a good fit and some other people have been telling me the 228/228 would be good as well give me some input...(I want something awsome but closer to stock, but still balzy)

suggestions on companies have been comp cams and trex cams any more

224 on a 114 if you want it almost stock idle. 224 on a 112 if you like the lope.

the tsp stick is going to be more agressive, and make more power
both great cams

i posted before you did the edit

no the tsp 231/237. the trex is MUCH bigger

if all you want is 25rwhp you dont need anything near 230 duration.

MTI has a nice set of "stealth" cams that make great power

i think most people agree that the 224 is the best street/strip cam out. you cant go wrong with this cam.

228/228 should make a little more power with the extra duration.

a 224/228 has a little more breathing room on the exhaust side which may help more if you have restrictive exhaust, or better for nitrous.

i would still go witht he tr224 over both of those grinds simply because the cam is proven. a TON of people have run this cam

224/224 cam here.. Meets your criteria exactly Of course, I'm getting rid of it soon in favor of a more extreme cam, because I'm ready for some more power.

The TR224 is LS1Tech.com's ol' #1 cam.

If you want a gob of power, a little rumpity rump idle and don't care much more about it, throw in the TR224. I'd say its general purpose cam #1.

If you have more specific needs, use the search button.

I went with an X1 from MTI...
Put down the #'s in my signature with just LT's and dual exhaust....
230/227 .591/.571 112lsa +4 (I think thats right??)

now I've added LS6 intake, and heads, and need to retune and find out what this thing does...

great cam for a daily drive...
mean sounding...great lope....doesnt sound stock.....
but MTI does have some great stealth cams...

I have a 230 578 114 +3 single pattern cam (mms 229 cam) with mac headers. Without tuning it still has good drivability. It makes good power from 4000 and up. Torque is a little soft below 4000. Not any worse than stock but less midrange than a smaller cam. I think a tr 224 or 222 112 cam would be more fun on the street.

Running cats will affect affect your cam choice. Supposedly when runnin cats its best to have a wider lsa and more exhaust duration. THe TR 224/227 114 cam might be a good choice.
