Default Best Iphone radar App

Hey guys not sure if this in the right section but then figured guys with a lot of street racing have more experience with radar systems. About to go with a valentine 1 from amazon. Had a cobra thats been broken for awhile. Was looking for extra insurance as an iphone app as well. I had in mind Escort Live, but from your guys opinions & experience what is a good quality radar app?

I'd go with a V1 or Beltronics RX65. I wouldn't use a phone radar app.
I would use a legit radar detector with an app on the side, like Trapster.

Most cops will flip their radars on when they see you coming. People buy these things thinking it will save them and they very rarely will on the highway. I had one for 2 years and it never once helped me.

A good one will save you, unless you're going 100+. Then you're fucked. lol
But if you're cruisng 10-15+ above, it'll help.

Depending on the situation , a quality radar detector can save your *** . A couple years back I was cruising down the freeway in an area that's got a couple speed traps , going about 15/20 over my v1 starts going crazy pointing ahead so I slow down and get around the long sweeping turn to find a chp pointing his radar /lazer whatever at me and others .I laughed a bunch and 2 miles down the road it happened again .

Fast forward a year or so I was racing on a bridge and I flew by chp that were hiding out and had there car turned off (radar gave no warning) they pulled us over and needless to say I was not laughing ! Moral of the story = don't put all your faith in a radar detector regardless of how badass it is because if they're just chilling with all the gadgets and electronics turned off there is nothing to detect and it isn't hard to notice cars racing/speeding as long as you can see and hear !

My PASSPORT ESCORT has saved many countless times.

Countless.

Over, and over again.

Laser, your fucked the moment they pull the trigger...regardless of system. Valentine does make a nice setup,...very pricy though. We have probably 5 passports in the family, they all rock and roll everyday, saving our ***'s.

I would recommend passport, or valentine. I had a cobra years ago, I thought it sucked *****, and did not work effectively.

Agree with above about cobra radar detectors being crap , bought one tried it out , gave it to my friend cause it didn't really work ! Metro pcs could probably make a better one than the cobra !

A good one works well. Mine saved my *** probably a good 50 times or so. Worth the $ when you look at cost of ticket and insurance.

Escort Passport 9500ix is pretty nifty. I've only had mine out once, but it has a pretty neat GPS feature that can help identify speed cameras, and will also allow you to block out specific signals in specific locations so that it's not driving you crazy when you use it around your local area and drive by the same grocery store or whatever every day. It is not the most sensitive detector, but the trade off for some peace and quiet is worth it. Plus, when it alarms, it's usually real and you won't be in the habit of tuning it out like you do with another detector.

I'm use 3 things to help me out on long trips. When I go for long drives, I use a Navigon GPS loaded with speed camera locations, I use an app called radardroid lite, though I'm not sure how good it is, I've read good things about it for here in Europe. Finally, I have the 9500ix with the features I mentioned above. I think that's about the best you can do for cameras and speed traps.

The cameras are becoming more prevalent and they are more dangerous here in Germany than police officers with radar or laser. They use "trip" lasers, or electric wires "loops" that you run over to trigger cameras if you're going too fast or if you go through a red light. They are either completely undetectable by the usual radar/laser gear or once detected it's too late. With my stuff, I'm almost always alerted well in advance of immobile cameras, but the mobile ones won't show up in most databases. The best defense against mobile cams is probably a good phone app if it's widely used enough and immediately updated in real-time.

The last thing I'm considering is a laser jammer. Some of them seem to be pretty effective. Escort has a poor system (ZR4) that goes with the 9500ix, but I wouldn't waste my money. The two brands I keep reading good things about are Blinder M47, and laser interceptor. Both have shown excellent test results on multiple reviews. Unfortunately, they're both costly systems.

I'm the farthest thing from a conspiracy theorist, but I know police are sent to issue tickets to raise funds. They are legal scams perpetuated by the government, and I personally overheard a city Mayor in a relatively large metropolitan area talk about raising funds by these means. It boils my blood, and I'd rather give my money to device makers that aren't scams and keep my insurance and tickets down.
