Race car only.
Can I do away with the fuel tank pressure sensor?
What exactly is it's purpose ?

Yes, just turn off the DTC for it and remove the wires. Or do like I did and wire in the wideband to the 0-5V sensor wire.

Tank pressure is used as part of the evap system.

How will the tank vent it's pressure if you remove the sensor?

I have a non-ecm controlled tank vent - 88 Fiero.

I did some research and found the answer.
Just undo the evap line before the canister and
put a filter on it.
