Default Alginement after strut replacement?

Thinking of replacing my front struts, do I need an alignment afterwards?

IF your ride height is changing then yes. If you are replacing with the same parts no alignment needed, unless it out of alignment to begin with.

That's what I thought, using the same spring.

The answer is Yes.

Every piece that you will be disconnecting has a tolerance and can "move around" slightly.

It is always good to get an alignment every now and then regardless to make sure everything is still where it should be.

Do yourself a favor and get the $40 alignment. It will save you from having to replace $400 in tires.

If he was changing the suspension geometry I would agree with you, but he is not. Swapping struts on this car does not require the adjustment of any suspension parts, you simply remove the two lower bolts on the strut assembly and then you undo the top mount. While I would agree that an alignment here and there won't hurt, it certainly isn't necessary for a strut replacement.

Yup, rebuilt from the ground up, I turned every bolt on it. It’s fun to drive. Funny thing is I’ve had my V for about a month and hadn’t drove the mustang in a couple weeks. I got in and drove it and I swore the spring or something fell off the clutch it was so hard! I pulled over and checked it out and nope, nothing wrong… The clutch is just hard to push! I just got use to the V.

And we all think our V's are a little brutal, I guess we've all been spoiled. Nice car sir.

I agree 100%.

After I did mine on my CTS and then my V, I took them both down to the local shop and they measured the "tolerances" and I was spot.

I mean I am really good, but I still don't think it is necessary. All of the bolts in the strut mount and the lower mount as stated should not change anything.......But make sure to degrease everything for sure. It is a damn Cadillac for Pete's sake. Make it look good under too!
