Default Is this just a driveshaft flange?

I received photos of a GTO LS2/T56 dropout I'm interested in buying. I know this is a dumb question but is that just the GTO's forward driveshaft flange interested in the rear of the T56 to keep it sealed?

TIA.

My GTO trans does not look like that. It had a regular u-joint style yoke. The shifter was also different. I do not recall it having the big plastic cover.

Are you sure this trans isn't from a Cadillac? I seem to recall seeing that flange on a Cad trans.

Hmmm...I was given a VIN and it checks out as a 2006 LS2/T56, but now you have me wondering.

I'll have to see if I can find some known GTO T56 pics to compare it to.

I just found this photo of what's described as a 2005 GTO T56. Looks the same, no?

And this ad on eBay for a GTO slip yoke appears to be what's inserted into the trans in my photo.

Yes that is a stock GTO / Monaro slip yoke tripod flange (the tripod yoke on a CTS-V and many of the later TR6060 variants is fixed and not a slip-yoke.)

That's also a stock GTO shifter.
