Default New C5 Wheels! *PICS* and Questions!

So I've been thinking about new wheels to replace my OEM SS wheels. I was going to put it off until Spring but I found a good deal on these C5 Y2K's so I jumped on them.

The wheels are 17x8.5/ 18x9.5 I believe. The fronts came with new tires but I need some for the rears. The fronts are 245/45/17. What size tire should I run on back to make everything work properly? It has bald 275/40/18 now but I was reading how that can throw the off the ABS, is this true?
Also, my second question is: what size adapters should I run on the rears? I believe they are 68mm offset. I was thinking either 1" or 3/4"
Thanks!

And PICS!

Yes, I know I need to lower the front down now.

Yeah yeah haha they're Flowmaster tips. I hate them, I've just not gotten around to changing them.

I'd run at least a 275 tire back there. You might want to consider going with a 285 or 295. To help with the concern that you're thinking of (ABS system; there's also the concern of throwing the speedo off), you'll want to bring the sidewall (aspect ratio) down. For instance, going to a 295 would warrant a 35 series height.

FWIW, I'd also get rid of the 255's on the front. You'd be better served putting your stock SS tires on there (assuming they're not junk).

But anyway, I think the car looks good. While I prefer ZR1's, those Y2K look alright, especially in silver. You wanna sell those ZR1's?

Yes I'll be selling the old SS wheels. Any suggestions for the exhaust tips? I was thinking about cutting them back to the bumper and raising them up closer to the bumper.

Rather hacking up the tips themselves, could you take it to a muffler shop and just have them cut and re-weld them further back and angled correctly?

Hey we're almost twins! I used a 1/4 in spacer on the rear to reduce rubbing around very
hard corners.

Will a 255/45/17 up front and 275/45/17 out back make the abs and brake lights come on? Started happening as soon as I put that tire combo on. Previously had 245/50/17 up front with the same out back. Trying to figure out whats making the lights come on.

Your car is actually the one that made my decision! I'm thinking maybe a 3/4" or 1" adapter. I like the wide look. With no adapter now, I can't even fit a finger between the tire and inner fender.
I'm also worried about abs, I've driven around on the bald rears and haven't had the light pop up so it might be good?
Also I'm planning on buying new BFG GForce Comp 2's in 275/40/18 for the rears. These should be good for traction, correct? Especially over my sumitomos now

On my 95 Formula I had 295/35/18 NT05s on c5z reps and I never had an issue with the ABS light or ABS function. I totally forgot though how they used to rub all the time under hard cornering even after removing my bump stops.

Wheels look good. As they said before no need to change the tips just get them angled right
