6.0 shorty headers instead of manifolds.
Just curious if these would be a better alternative to truck manifolds as I am getting ready to build a new hot side, These are much cheaper under 200 dollars for chrome moly and made in America by Gibson and can be had in ceramic, stainless or chrome moly, compared to custom turbo headers, they would also be direct fit and feature tuned ports, In other words if you built a kit that utilized manifolds without the v banded flanges. Gaskets are obviously junk and I wouldn't run them. That being said what are your Thoughts pro-cons?

I would get the ceramacoated version and probably wrap to retain heat, My car will be 95% drag car 5% street car once it does its next transformation. I will also build a turbo brace if I go this route. Looking to get everything I can get out of a forged 6.0, LS6 intake, ported 317 heads, S480 turbo, and the custom for my setup Martin Cam I just bought, TH-400. Still got to order the new converter, Not sure who to go with my current converter is from Cameron but its left over from the nitrous setup and too loose up top, was only a 200 RPM drop from 2nd to 3rd on 15 psi before the motor hurt itself last year. Its was perfect with the spray and N/A just not up to the task with the turbo, so i might give him another go. Waiting my the short block get back from the machine shop to get started at the moment.
Plan is 3200 race weight, and go as deep into the 5's as possible on kill for some grudge and run some local 6.0 index's and 275/ 10.5 28" tire shoot outs, for this coming year then maybe pick up a billet S476 for some RS 275 for the next. Got to add more cage for 8.50 cert to do the RS 275 thing though.

Man I just realized you were in Rockingham. Must be nice have a quarter mile track in your back yard. I run there one time in my old slow car lol. Like a 2hr drive for me though if I remember.
But on the headers, if you have a good turbo brace I think they would look really clean and do fine. Manifolds obviously stronger and hold heat in more because of the thick cast but shorts would flow better. Pros and cons with everything I guess.

I new about the heat issue, My question really was is the potential power gain really worth the extra 100 dollars? I also like the potential for the cleaner look. By the time they are coated and wrapped heat retention should be close to that of the exhuast manifolds.
As far as Rockingham goes I am 9 miles away from that track, a hour away from darlington or Fayetteville, 1.5 hours to Z max, and Orangeburg, SC so plenty of local spots to jump in, Several tracks in SC constantly hosting (like every 2 weeks) shoot outs like this one.

This ones has a little cheaper payout usually its 5K or (10K on holiday weekends) and good for the grass roots racers in the area.

Huron Speed just released a set of V-Band style "truck" manifolds. I would check them out, but yes, the Ohio Boys have been 200MPH... Can't want much more than that.
