cs 8.8 installed, still wheel hops like crazy
Like the title says, first day out and it still hops. If I get enough wheel speed, its fine. I bought the partial kit with upgraded stubs. Iron center, with ford racing 3.73, and trutrac. If I take off from a stop light aggressively and spin, it will hop bad. I have revshift 95a cradle, upper control arms, and trailing arm bushings. Also, revshift mm and cs transmission mount. Any ideas? Alot of money spent, so a little depressed its not better

Dont worry about the wheel hop. Also get better tires. Ive got 12 passes at the track with nittos no hop but on the streets when its wet It hops sometimes. Plus the whole point of 8.8 is that it can take the abuse of the wheel hop

I'd double chekc to make sure everything was as tight as it should be first. After that, call up CS and see what Max says. Those ford 8.8 irons are pretty bomb proof so I wouldn't worry about it if Max says there isn't a solution.

Rechecked everything again. Everything was for the most part tight, even the gas cap, haha. I did get the cradle to tighten up slightly when I retorqued it. I haven't tried it again though. On, a side note, for the guys that are running the trutrac, are you guys experiencing excessive slop out of them? I can turn my driveshaft and watch through the fill hole, and see everything is spinning but it doesn't turn the tires until I spin the driveshaft 1/8 or a little more.

dont have the trutrac but i have read that the slop you're describing is normal. this is the thread that led me to the stock cobra carrier instead of a upgrade.. http://www.modularfords.com/threads/...-trac-Rear-End

I have just the 8.8 kit, and no other rear mods with the NT01 tires...275's out back, and no wheel hop just spins and gos...I haven't tried in the wet this is all dry so far

I have the 9" kit in mine and it still wheel hops a little mainly when roads are wet, it's with a truetrac also. Truetrac seems to 'wobble' around the rear a little when you WOT , torque transfer between the tires. Unless you have absolutely perfect traction it's going to do that a bit. To minimize the feel you'd have to set it up for drag racing almost (subframe connectors, the revshift bushings, suspension adjusted to allow weight transfer to the rear without bouncing back right away)
Just be glad that no matter what happens, you can't break it

Well wft. haha. I love the invos but maybe I need to try the nt555, or step up to 275s. One other thought, are you guys lowered? I have the h&r springs and the rear tires tuck slightly. The axle if definitely at a slant. I know the the straighter the better, but I don't know if that would effect it. Either way, I love the 8.8. Feels much more solid. ctsvlsx, I can feel that wobble you mentioned. Im not sold on the trutrac. If I were to do it again, I would have gotten the factory ford with the carbon discs.

I agree with this to a point. If I'm in stop and go traffic, the clunk is so loud when I go from decel to accel. I had a buddy that works on cars also, and he immediately said I think you have excessive backlash. When I was looking in the fill hole on the cover and spun the driveshaft, the carrier spun instantly. But the axles didn't start to move until about 1/8-1/4 turn of the driveshaft. I don't have any experience with the trutrac, and I read a few threads about the slop they have.
