Default 2nd gen f body manifold/headers

Working on a 79 trans am with a 6.0 s480. I had originally hoped to use truck manifolds but they only fit up and forward I wanted something that fit forward and down. Is there anything out there that will/ may fit headers or manifolds?

Im doing the same thing only my car is a 80 Turbo TA with a billet s480 6.2L. I think I can get the truck manifolds to work. I cut quite a bit off the flange end and might have to weld a section of pipe on before I put the v bands on. Ive also heard of someone angle milling the manifolds to gain alittle clearance.

Yeah I started doing that on drivers side and it's pretty straight forward but the passenger side is going to need a fair amount removed. It hits the k member unless you cut off about a 1/2 inch off the very bottom and 3-4 inches length wise. There's pics on yellow bullet where a guy did just that.

I put mine up and forward and cut the flanges off and welded on v-bands. Easy to do. Mine is a 80 Z28 but close to the same if not the same.

They will fit, just have to cut em up! Down and forward looks so much better.

This is also in a 79 Trans Am but it has twins instead of a big single.

Yes I agree manifolds upside down just doesn't look good imo. We may cut them up for down and forward or just get up and forward headers up to car owner.
