rear seatbelts

Default rear seatbelts

does anyone know if the rear seatbelts are supposed to lock when you pull them all the way out then rachet back in. I want to put a car seat back there but the seatbelt wont get tight. Its a 99 ta firehawk let me know guys thanks

I dont have to rachet anything back in it. Mine pulls it self. But i can double check when i go out to my car.

They do not ratchet. Internal pendulum style lock that will only lock above a certain angle, like when heavy braking is applied. I bought all new seatbelts thinking mine were broke BC not ratcheting and found out this is how they operate. Chiltons manual shows how to remove and test to confirm internal lock still works. Sucks for when putting car seats in back!
