I accidentally bought a 2000 Z-28.
Hello from Oregon.
For quite a while now I've been looking for a LS1 and WS6 to go into a 1970 240Z for a light, good MPG daily driver. A couple of weeks ago I found this ad on Craigslist .
"2000 Chevy Camaro Z28 - $3000 (Oregon City)
2000 Chevy Camaro Z28 great Ls1 engine has 132,000 miles runs great needs suspension work hit a curb nice interior and flow master exhaust system must see!"
The first thing I found out that it was considered totaled w a Salvage title. I didn't care since I just wanted the motor and 6 sp. But I looked the car over searching for signs of powertrain abuse but found none, IE: perfect body except for a few rock dings, 95% interior. Looked like it was babied, so far so good. Took it for a drive feeling out the tranny for bad scyncros but it shifts sweet. Motor idled quietly and had good acceleration. I offered him 2500 because of the Salvage title and it was mine.
So I got it off the tow dolly and said WTH may as well look and see what's bent. The insurance shop had marked everything w bright paint, here's what was marked.
Bent tie-rod.
Bent Panhard bar.
Tweeked rear control arms.
That's it! 'Heck I may as well drive this thing' so I went to a Pick-and-Pull and got everything for $98. Got it all on and got the alignment pretty close and drove it to work and found out I had a bent wheel which turned out to be a bent left axle which I got for $185.
Holly shi.... I got a Z-28!!
I can't get the thrust block back in. Looks like they might have sold me an aftermarket axle but I'll figure it out. I'll start a thread asking for advice w pics when I get em loaded on the desktop puter.

Got it on the road, drives and tracks good.
Picture time. Could have vacuumed it out first I guess..
SLP lid
Full dual Flowmaster exhaust w/o cats
Possibly a larger MAF
$2800 so far, not bad for a clean Z.
I'll go through it all when I get a little time off. It's a daily driver already.
