Default My custom true dual 3'' set up

I have had this on my car for about 16 months now, but just finally getting around to post some pictures up on here for those who are interested. My buddy is a mechanical engineer and also does welding... so a couple cases of beer, and some late nights we built a stainless steel exhaust system.

I run the old style SLP LT's which sit pretty low, along with 3'' cats, so we built them off those.

It must have been some really weak beer, because you and your buddy did a great job!

Got any sound clips?

How is ground clearance? It looks like it's not an issue

Looks to be done very well. Did you buy a kit that had various stainless bends or do you have means of bending?

I'll see if can't put some some sound clips up soon, I'm using the kooks straight through mufflers, so to say the least, It's a VERY aggressive sound, no rasp at all... and get compliments all the time.

As for the ground clearance, I am running lowering springs, not a crazy drop though, and the only thing that really scrapes are the cats and the end of the LT's... so no additional clearance issues, only because those parts have ALWAYS scraped.

As for the bends, we just got under the car and pretty much calculated how many straights and J bends we needed to make the system - with a little extra just in case. Everything was just cut and welded off the straights and J's basically.

The whole system makes even my little 346 sound aggressive like it should. I always thought fox 5.0's sound awesome with exhaust, where we get rasp because of the Y. So kicking it up a notch and going 3'' TD's and not rednecking it with dumps under the car was the direction I went with and didn't look back. Mid range improved a LOT, and I love it. Like I said, hopefully sound clips to come soon.

That looks amazing. The ground clearance looks awesome too. Can you post up a list of the number of bends and parts you bought? I think I'm just going to build my own like this.

Thanks, I can't remember off the top of my head the amount of bends and straights I bought at all. I did end up making my own hangers from SS rods from home depot which also worked really well.

Because my buddy is a perfectionist, it took a few days from start to end, when he had free time. just keep in mind there is a lot of measuring and clearance issues, so everything is really tight. Not saying doing it yourself is impossible at all, just that you're gonna need some time and a good fabricator to get it tight to the body, with out hitting anything.

Gotta love the MWC ds loop. By far the best clearance to be offered for a true dual setup. My exhaust is very similar to yours. 3" x with magnaflow 14" x 5" round mufflers with corsa clone tips.

Just curious why you had the pipes swap sides after the x?

BTW that looks really good. I'm gonna watch the video when I get home from work. Does kooks sell those mufflers individually?

the pipes just fit better that way so they could be tucked up. The switching over was more of a by-product of keeping everything tight to the body. Plus it looks cool.

so simple answer: because race car

And yeah, I actually called kooks and had them tell me which muffler they use for their true dual system, and had them ordered.
