Default UPDATE!! New Powerplant and TX2K14 - 98 Mustang GT, 6.0, 80mm Turbo

Well I meant to create a build thread when I started this project 3 weeks ago, but that never happened lol.

Anyways, Here is the build, info, pics and a few videos.

1998 Mustang GT, 102k Miles on Roller.

Junkyard 5.3 (86k Miles)
Built TH400
Jegs 3600 Dual Ballooning Plate Converter
05 CTSV LS6 Cam and Springs
1.15 GT45 Turbo (T4)
Mild Steel 2.5" Crossover
Truck Manifolds Forward Facing with 2.5" V-Bands Tigged On
EMUSA 8mm Gate
EMUSA BO
3.5" Downpipe Necked Down to 3"
CX Racing Intecooler
Frozen Boost Cold Side, Clamps and Couplers
80LB Injectors
Aeromotive 340 Pump
F-Body Radiator
Flex-a-Lite 16" Cyclone Fan
Hayden Trans Cooler
-4an Feed, -10 Return
BR7EF Plugs
Heat Sink Coils
05 GT Driveshaft with Custom U-Joints
31 Spline 8.8 3.23 Gears
AEM Eugo Wdeband
Boost X Boost Gauge
Custom Front Seats
3-Bar Map Sensor
Stand Alone Harness was Completed by Me
Tuned by me HPTuners
Running e85

This was a blast to build! Running the stock Hydroboost GT Brake system with stock 5.3 pump I wanted to do something not many have done (Atleast what I could re-search) and ended up V-Banding the stock truck throttle body. Took about 3 hours due to heat buildup so I did not damage the stock sensors since this is a DBW Setup. Tahoe gas pedal had to be modified a little to make it fit, looks factory. DBW TAC module is mounted on the firewall behind the drivers side head. Trying to keep in somewhat sleeper on the outside besides the obvious "shaker" style vortec/mustang hood lol. Leaving everything on the outside bone stock with an addition of a set of Drag Radials. Mounted the Wideband and Boost gauge in the cluster. All factory ford gauges work great besides Speedo which I do plan on hooking up to an ABS sensor little later.

I plan on performing the DENMAH mode to the THEFT light that won't go away lol. Its a bummer it started raining today as I finishing bleeding the brakes and wanted to get some seat time driving it around. I finished the idle tuning, part throttle, stall brake boost and rev but now its time to drive it around and start making some boost pulls.

Here is a ton of pics and any questions you guys/gals have, feel free to ask!

ENJOY!

When I first got it, previous owner stripped the powertrain, PCM and front seats for his 31 coupe.

Oh and yes for the ones that will ask, I did use both the stock 4.6 K-Member, Crossmember (originally an Auto) and Shifter.

4.6 Crossmember all I had to do was chop off the old mounting hardware and weld up some simple, yet very strong angle iron motor mounts which allowed a 4" downpipe if needed or twin 2.5" downpipes for a twin setup. the Crossmember I welded a short extension for the TH400 bolt, very simple. Stock shifter worked great once I shortened the TH400 shifter bracket on the trans to match the Ford shift selection.

Nice build. How do you like the jegs converter so far? I was thinking of getting one for my car.

I love it! Crazy smooth and I finally got into a little boost (been slammed with work recently) and all I can say is this little GT is going to roll out very hard. SOTP feels like it is definitely going to be the fastest one I have built yet. The smoothness from the z06 cam and converter feels amazing, especially when rolling into the littlest amount of boost. Can't wait to get more seat time to tune on high boost.

Vcious, do you have a pic of how you connected the trans/linkage? I am knee-deep in a 96 Stang 5.3 conversion and want to use the stock shifter setup.

I'd like a pic of the shifter cable connection at the trans if you have one. I've got a stock shifter in my 95 that needs to be connected to a 4L80e, should be similar to the TH400.

Thanks.

Sweet. The converter's are on sale right now. I am taking that as a sign and ordering one. Thanks.

Here ya go buddy!

Hard to see in the pic, put I did weld two small washers on the end of the factory ford "slide adjustment" for the bolt to connect to the linkage so it didn't slide back and forth when shifting. Works Great. As you can see how much I had to shorten the TH400 shift lever lol.

Lol, yeah I miss that crazy thing. He is enjoying tho, nice to keep in touch with the ones that purchased them. TT Farm truck is getting a fully built motor by the new owner (5.3 still running strong tho), it's gonna be sick!

Hows your TT S10 coming along?

Couldn't be more pleased with it. Not too tight and too loose, seems perfect.
