Hey there guys, I am wanting to swap an LS motor into my 67 chevelle, which is a 283, power-glide car. Not sure which LS motor (years or size) would be best for power and drive ability... I also do not know what all I have to get with it and anything else that is required to make this work. I would like to do this on the cheap if possible.

Also, what would or should I do for trans? I do have a muncie 4 speed if needed, but would rather go with a 700R-4 auto.

Please give advice and I thank you in advance.

on the cheep you can get a decent 5.3 , with a 4l60 , or the 7004r will work but if you dont have one the combo will be easier on you in the end

I've got an LS6 with 77k on it that I'm selling if interested. As of right now it's still got all accessories. I also have the T56 6-speed from the car as well. The 2005 CTS-V (that these are from) is rated at 400hp and 395 lb-ft of tq stock.

All LS swap takes a lot of work and money, the engine is only part of, with the cost of wiring, ECM,TCM, exhaust, oil pan, mounts, inatke, CAI, fuel system, on and on and on, buy the engine you want, don't settle on a lesser engine, way too much effort not to be happy with the end product. Trans depends on HP/TQ...4L60 fits the best, 4L80 holds up better but can be tough to fit without tunnle mods, 6Lanything takes a lot of cutting.

Im trying to do the same thing in the same car. Countless hours surfing the net. and yet I do not have an answer except there is 1000 different ways to go depending on budget and your knowledge. I have no money or skills, so im screwed. I have been told from a Kurt "Autocraft" to stay in the 2005 year, Corvette. you can save money on the pulleys, Etc but you pay the price for the engine. others have used truck motors and cam/head swaps on the cheap. When you find a good combo let me know too.
