Street Racing & Kill Stories - to my surprise!

First, I'll admit that I've never been on a track. I read the magazines and play. My story: I pulled up to a light. I didn't know it, but there was a little, and I repeat “little” black foreign car beside me, out of view of my left eye. The light changed and he was gone. Out of instinct I guess, I went after him. I couldn't catch that little son of a gun till third gear, then I started bringing him in. I backed off because of some traffic. I have an '02 Camaro SS with at Vortech Street Charger, running 8-9 pounds. What the h__ could he have had in that thing? Times sure have changed. I'm no spring chicken as they say. Welcome feedback.

Something is definitely wrong with your charger or something or that guy had is damn car modded past 30000 dollars. How far of a jump did he get on you and were you driving with the pedal smashed. More details please of his car sound of it how far was he when you decided to chase etc..........

Sounds like you gave him too big of a head start. If the other car is mildly quick, giving him such a large lead can cause you to lose, even if you're faster.

LOL its hard to reel a car in, if it is even mildly quick. Even if he gets 3 seconds on you its hard to make it up. Could have been a WRX, Evo, Modded 3star motor turbo all those you'd have a hard time catching with a head start. Especially to 3rd gear. Shoot I was playing with a stock 5.0 I'd jump ahead and then slam the brakes let him go ahead and it took me a little while to get him again.....

Doesn't 417/413 .. sound very low for a supercharged car...
I have seen close to 400 w/just bolt-ons and a cam..

What other stuff do you have .. Becareful it could have been a Supra.. I made the mistake of messing w/one of them..

I don't know - a supra is actually far from a 'little car'. As stated - there's a lot of really quick wrx's, lancer evo's, S2000's and even 350z's out there. Not too mention in the Detroit area, there's a V8 focus running around somewhere. I would qualify that as a little foreign car - but it'll go like snot...

417rwhp at 8psi is very very low IMO.

With just a cam!

His numbers seem ok for his charger most vortech street setups without the aftercooler make about that. Im assuming hes all stock with the charger only. He could have gotten close to 400/400 club with a cam, tranny mods, and all bolt ons but it is very difficult especially without heads and maybe he didnt want to tear into the motor or spend a lot of labor cash. From the info here sounds like he floored it and you were like this guy think he has something let me try to catch now that hes already gone, doesnt sound like a race. If it was youd probably would have smoked his ass. Like everyone says here 3 gear sucks it is definitely not a passing gear. Personally I dont think you have anything to worry about your car probably hauls, I say go out pick a random ricer victim and smokem get that stress off your mind haha. You are puttin down some very good numbers, how long ago was the dyno done? Have you had any problems recently? All in all your cars seems ok.
